To program a 2016 Ford Taurus SHO, it takes the Ford 5 Button Prox Remote Key, so I cut a new key with an emergency blade, and we're ready to program using the SmartPRO.
To begin the programming, we have the Smart PRO, which is connected to the OBD2 port, and we also have the 'MYKEYS Pro' for all the information we need about this vehicle. I’m using this aftermarket prox key by Ilco.
Now that you have everything set up, the first step is to go to 'Vehicle Selection' as you can see below, and select 'Ford.' Then we will choose the Taurus, 2010 to 2019 since it is 2016 prox. The MYKEYS Pro app can give you all the tips, tricks, and information you need to navigate the selection process.
The Smart Pro device should display a connection message like the one below. Click on Connect, Switch the Ignition on and click OK.
After connecting, go down to the Add Prox Keys and hit the play button on the bottom left. Timed Access, so we need to wait patiently for 10 minutes.
Once the 10-minute wait is up, insert the key into the prox to the key slot and get it programmed.
Here is the slot location. Click OK, and Success will pop up! Alright, we now have two functioning prox keys.
For each programming done, you should test out the keys and be sure to hear the locks cycle. Compare the function of your newly programmed keys with the original key to be sure that everything is still working. You can try to start your ignition and controls with the new programmed key to ensure it works the same.
