Explore your key programming knowledge and key program the 2017 Dodge Charger by adding prox key using the Smart PRO. The prox key we are going to add is the tombstone style, the aftermarket Ilco replacement. Check the link in the notes below.
This is one of the last years; in 2017, you can use the OBD 2 port instead of using the starport, and I tell you what, you don't realize how much you enjoy the OBD 2 port, so you have to use the starport. This is one of the sweet spots for a good, profitable job.
I've already gone ahead and duplicated the emergency key. Let's get into programming.
We have the Smart Pro connected to the OBD 2 port, and we're ready to get programming. Go to Vehicle Selection, click Dodge, Charger 2017 PROX-PUSH BUTTON. There will be two options, select the one with PIN BYPASS.
We'll go ahead and click Connect. Switch ignition off, then click OK. Switch hazards on and hit OK.
Next is to go to Program Keys and hit the play button. 'Make sure that all wireless devices (laptops, cell phones) are not close to the prox being programmed.' Check it and set it aside far from the prox key, then click OK.
'Follow the next screens quickly and carefully. Complete the operation within 60 seconds after pressing OK.' Be ready and once you are, click OK.
'Hold the prox key near the START/STOP button, then continually press and release the unlock button until you hear the door unlocking.' Do what the instruction is saying and be mindful of the time requirement, which is 60 seconds. This is what will appear on the screen once the programming is a success.
Take the original key and put it in the Lucky Line pouch. If you don't have one, there's a link in the notes below. This is to make sure that the new program key is the one working.
Once done, it is now safe to try the new program prox key.
