Key Programming | 2018 GMC Sierra Denali W Smart PRO!

Key programming a 2018 GMC Sierra Denali starts with duplicating the key which is on a B119-PT. They don't need an extra fob on this one so we're just going to make an extra key and I'm using the JMA B119 Transponder Key

Programming a key using the Smart Pro

To begin the programming, we have the Smart PRO, which is connected to the OBD2 port, and we also have the 'MYKEYS Pro' for all the information we need about this vehicle.

Smart Pro Vehicle Key Programmer

When you have everything set up, the first step is to go to ‘Vehicle Selection’ as you can see below, and select ‘Sierra’. The options will be 2007-2016 and then 2015-2016 for the push button prox, which isn't. I don't see it listed here so we have two options. Option 1 is try 2016. Option 2 is to go to the Chevy Silverado version. Let's go with Chevy Silverado. Silverado 2017 to 2019 Blade. The MYKEYS Pro app can give you all the tips, tricks, and information you need to navigate the selection process.

Key Programming with the MYKEYS Pro App

When you have completed the selection, put the key into the ignition. The Smart Pro device should display a connection message like the one below.

How To Use the Smart Pro Key Programmmer

Connect to the Immobiliser. Switch ignition on, take the existing key, put it in, and turn it on. With this procedure, you can program the flip key to the system without erasing the existing key.

When the Smart Pro indicates that the key has been programmed, take your existing key out. Then put the new key into the ignition, ready to get programmed. A security bypass message for a 10-minutes wait will pop up before you see a message like, 'Keys programmed: 3.' Then you can switch the ignition off and then switch it back on with the key to be programmed. The Smart Pro device will load and let you know that the key has been programmed successfully.

For each programming done, you should test out the keys' and be sure to hear the locks cycle. Compare the function of your newly programmed keys with the original key to be sure that everything is still working. You can try to start your ignition and controls with the new programmed key to ensure it is working the same.

That's how we program a 2018 GMC Sierra Denali with the Smart PRO programmed in the B119-PT. If you have any comments or questions about this procedure, let us know in the comments below!
