Key Programming today is a common practice for locksmiths! Today, we will program a 2017 Toyota Tundra. This split year one could either use the TOY44G Transponder Key Blank or the TOY44H Transponder Key Blank. But since they laser engrave the letter of the chip used on the vehicle, the G chip is what we are going to be using. The TOY44G and an Ilco remote to be programmed using the Autek IKey820 Key Programmer.
First, check the list of vehicles the Autek can cover. If it is listed, begin the programming by connecting the Autek IKey820 to the OBD 2 port.
When you have everything set up, you must insert the original key. Proceed to the ‘Key Program’ and select ‘Toyota.’ Then we will select the Camry, 2017 and press OK. Before you execute the next task, take the original key and put the new key then turn ignition on.
Select ‘Add key’ and do the same thing on the Autek screen. With this procedure, you can program the new key to the system without erasing the existing key. Please ensure you have at least one key to be added.
After programming the key, you have to program the buttons separately. Go to ‘Remote’ and choose ‘Remote System 2.’ Proceed to ‘Program Remote’ and follow the instructions on the screen. The beep is the signal of success.
For each programming done, you should test out the keys and be sure to hear the locks cycle. Compare the function of your newly programmed keys with the original key to be sure that everything is still working. You can try to start your ignition and controls with the new programmed key to ensure it is both working.
That's how you program a remote headed key to this 2017 Toyota Tundra. It's really crazy how simple this machine is to use and how easy the steps are to follow. We really like how the Autek IKey820 guides you through each step to make sure you have the right key in at the right time.
