Has a customer ever brought you in a worn key for you to duplicate, and you realize the key doesn't work after duplicating it? Here's a quick tip that will help you duplicate worn keys.
When you have a worn key, most likely, you've already tried to cut it, and it didn't work. And you're like, 'Yeah, with the wear on here.' But probably you don't need to shim it or something. Instead, use a sticky note, fold it in half, put it in the jaw, install the key, and then tighten it down. Once tightened, rip off both sides of the paper.
If that still does't work, you're going to want to try using two pieces of paper. Typically, a worn key will require between one to two pieces of sticky notes to get the key to work. Thanks for watching. We'll see you next time!
