To determine if your key is KW1 or SC1, look at the shape and grooves: KW1 keys (Kwikset) have a more rounded top and a single groove on the left side, while SC1 keys (Schlage) have a more squared top and two grooves on the left side. You can also check the key’s head—often, it’s stamped with “KW1” or “SC1.” If you’re still unsure, compare your key to images of each type online or ask a locksmith.
