To determine which direction to turn a lock when picking, gently apply turning pressure with your tension wrench in one direction and try setting the pins; if they bind, you’re likely turning the correct way. If the pins don’t bind, release tension and try the opposite direction. Typically, most locks turn the same way as the key would when unlocking.
