A Timpson key machine works by using a guide and cutting wheel to precisely duplicate the shape of an existing key onto a blank key. The original key is placed in a guide, while the blank key is secured next to a cutting wheel; as the machine traces the original key’s cuts, the wheel grinds the same pattern into the blank. This produces an accurate copy of the original key.
