ANSI Grade 1 deadbolts are the highest rated for security and durability, typically used in commercial settings, and must withstand at least 250,000 open/close cycles and 10 strikes of 75 pounds of force. Grade 2 deadbolts offer good security for residential use, with lower requirements: 150,000 cycles and 5 strikes of 75 pounds. In short, Grade 1 provides stronger protection and longer durability than Grade 2.
