To determine if your lock is 5 pin or 6 pin, look into the keyway and count the number of small pins lined up in a row inside the cylinder. Alternatively, you can count the number of cuts or grooves on your key—each cut usually corresponds to a pin, so a 5 pin lock will have five cuts and a 6 pin lock will have six.
